Ingredients
  

  • 1-2 tsp dried butterfly pea flowers 4-6 whole dried flowers
  • 2 cups hot water
  • 1-2 tsp honey or sugar optional
  • freshly squeezed lemon juice for color changing

Instructions
 

  • Bring the water to a boil in a small pot or kettle.
  • Add the dried butterfly pea flowers to the hot water and let steep for 3–5 minutes. The water will turn a deep, vibrant blue.
  • Strain the tea into cups if using loose flowers.
  • Add honey or sugar if desired and stir until dissolved.
  • Slowly add fresh lemon juice and watch the color change from deep blue to a rich purple.
  • Serve warm or let cool and pour over ice for a refreshing iced version.

Notes

  • The color-changing effect happens because the tea reacts to acidity from the lemon, shifting from blue to purple.
  • The more lemon you add, the more vibrant and lighter the purple becomes.
